REVIEW- The Wives by Tarryn Fisher

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

WOW! WHOA! WHAT ON EARTH JUST HAPPENED! Yeah. That’s how I feel about this one. Tarryn Fisher got me. She got me GOOD! Below is the very brief synopsis of The Wives taken from Amazon:

Thursday’s husband, Seth, has two other wives. She’s never met them, and she doesn’t know anything about them. She agreed to this unusual arrangement because she’s so crazy about him. But one day, she finds something. Something that tells a very different—and horrifying—story about the man she married. What follows is one of the most twisted, shocking thrillers you’ll ever read. You’ll have to grab a copy to find out why.

What I loved the most about The Wives was the unanticipated plot twist. Actually I should say twists because there were more than one! My jaw dropped and I gasped at least ten times and I’m not even kidding. It may have been more because I lost count. I also really loved the plot. You don’t read many thrillers with a polygamist theme. So many thrillers these days start to become quite predictable and they’re good, but you weren’t totally taken by surprise. These twists go all the way to the very last sentence. Literally.

I also truly loved the pace of The Wives. When a book starts to stall somewhere towards the middle I find myself bored and impatient and wanting to skip ahead. I can honestly say that there was not one part that I could have done without. Each chapter and each word in this book was crucial and I was riveted on every page. I do not say this often.

I mentioned this on Instagram and it’s worth a mention here also. If you listen to books on Audible then this is a great narration. I often read at home and then listen when I’m out running errands or sitting in the school pick-up line. It did not disappoint.

Where did I feel this book fell short? Where did I struggle to keep up or stay attentive? No where. If you look at my star ratings (in the menu tab), I rate 5 stars to books that blow my mind or move me to tears. The Wives blew my mind again and again and again. There was nothing I would have changed.

In summary, if you love mysteries and thrillers and crazy plot twists and unexpected and CRAZY endings then this one is MADE for you. Let me know what you think and happy reading!
